This conference focused on new developments in automatic train driving, applied to the ERTMS signalling system. The first part of the session covered the analysis of its feasibility and the operational and business prospects already existing.

The second part of the session involved the participation of Adif and highlighted the advantages that this technology brings to the Regulation and Control Centres and command posts, such as increased capacity of the lines, energy saving, and the optimization of traffic operation. Regarding the railway track, this technology contributes to reducing its maintenance and improves safety, among other aspects.

A third module focused on different characteristics of deployment of the system and its application to low-traffic railway lines. As a general conclusion, the event served to underline that, in addition to interoperability, ATO over ERTMS level 2 will improve transport capacity, real-time traffic operation, and energy efficiency, according to the experts.
