The ‘Vaskhod & Wonter Capital integra’ consortium is formed by Sener, French consulting firm Systra, operator SNCF, Alstom as rolling stock manufacturer, and several Turkish construction companies. The consortium is backed by Germany’s Deutsche Bank. The selected consortium will be responsible for the design as well as the execution of the works and financing, commissioning and maintenance of the network.
Works include the construction of seven lines with 150 kilometres of track, 64 stations, four depots and workshops for rolling stock, two management centres and two additional power generation plants, which will serve 3.25 million passengers per day. The future Baghdad Metro will be the largest in the region and will improve mobility in a city with a steadily growing population.
