The extension project includes the construction of an eight-kilometre underground section from Fridhemsplan to Älvsjö. The new metro line will have six stations and will run through bedrock and under an inlet of the lake Mälaren.

The project is part of the national transport infrastructure development plan in Sweden, funded by the Swedish government and the municipalities in Stockholm. This contract follows Typsa’s previous involvement in the development of this Swedish metro network. In November 2023, the company was awarded the site supervision, works coordination and expert support services for the extension of the Blue line, work it carries out in collaboration with the Swedish engineering consulting firm Sweco. This section is 11 kilometres long, has six stations and a new platform under an existing station.
