As part of this project on cross-border rail transport, a trip was organised to several cities in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands in order to exchange experiences and have first-hand knowledge of innovative public transport initiatives in other countries.
t this meeting, representatives from the agency that manages and coordinates public rail transport in the German region of Aachen, which has a population of more than one million, presented different mobility experiences involving several countries.
These experiences included interoperable tickets between Germany and the Netherlands, as well as the activities of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Euroregio, formed by these neighbouring regions of the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium with a focus on promoting cross-border cooperation in areas such as transport and the environment.
