CITEF supplies new driver training simulator for KiwiRail in New Zealand



CITEF has installed a new driver training simulator for KiwiRail at the Middleton Locomotive Depot in Christchurch, New Zealand. This equipment is part of the supply of the new Stadler DM Locomotives.

The system includes the driver station, which is a replica of the new locomotive driver desk, and the instructor station, which allows creation and monitoring of training scenarios. It also has an observation station for additional oversight and analysis.

Simulation modules offer an immersive training experience. Among their key features are a highly detailed model of the Stadler DM locomotive (passenger and freight consists), and another full dynamic model of the consist with calculation of the on-train forces and pneumatic brakes simulation, which allows for very precise dynamic response. The chosen route is a 60-km line section between Dunedin and Milton. In addition, this system stands out for its state-of-the-art visual representation with 4k resolution graphics.
