The report was promoted by Mafex and prepared by the consulting firm Lasker. One of the objectives of the study is to ‘compile the trends and keys to the future of this sector for the competitiveness and sustainable development of our country’. This report brings together the reflections and the analysis of representatives from six ministries of the Spanish Government, leading academics, sector experts, and industry representatives.
During the presentation of the report, some very relevant key figures were revealed, such as the fact that 7.4% of the Spanish GDP is generated by the railway industry, 4% of the turnover devoted to R&D&I is carried out by the sector, more than 33,000 jobs are created, among other data.
