Grupo Ortiz is awarded concession for La Dorada-Chiriguaná railway corridor in Colombia



The National Infrastructure Agency of Colombia (Agencia Nacional de Infraestructura de Colombia, ANI) has awarded the joint venture ‘Estructura Plural Línea Férrea Central’ the first railway concession for La Dorada-Chiriguaná freight corridor.

This rail corridor is 520 km long and links the centre of Colombia and the Caribbean ports. The consortium in charge of the works is headed by the Spanish company Grupo Ortiz, which has a 75 per cent stake. The actions envisaged include the improvement of the infrastructure and the operation for a period of 9.5 years. The contract consists of ‘financing, property management, social and environmental and network management, the preparation of detailed studies, construction, rehabilitation, improvement, operation, maintenance, reversion of the railway and logistics infrastructure and the development, operation and maintenance of the project's rolling stock, as well as the provision of the public rail freight transport service’.
