Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia and the Basque Country, the Spanish regions of the Cantabrian arc, have joined forces to ask the Spanish Government and the European Union to put pressure on France so that it meets its deadlines regarding the Atlantic Corridor, whose completion is expected by 2030.

This demand aims to enable that the railway connections of the regions of the Cantabrian coast towards Europe be operational as soon as possible. The request has been made as a result of the French Government’s plan to put the Bordeaux-Dax section into service in 2042 and the fact that there is not a set date yet for the extension to the Spanish border.
The four autonomous communities request that the delays in the Atlantic Rail Corridor be over, since the year 2030 is the date marked by the European Commission to complete the basic network of this route, and they consider that it is “an opportunity to efficiently connect these regions with the network of corridors that crosses the European Union”.
