Works include the widening and rectification of approximately 40 kilometres between Khouribga and Oued Zem, studies for the elimination of level crossings on approximately 120 kilometres between Sidi el Aidi and Oued Zem, and the development of a new route between Oued Zem and Beni Mellal of approximately 60 kilometres. This is the second contract awarded to the Ineco-CID consortium.

This action is part of Morocco's 2040 railway strategy 'Plan Rail Maroc'. One of the goals of this programme is to expand the high-speed rail network from 320 to more than 1,280 kilometres over the next 16 years. In terms of demand forecasts, it is expected that 87% of the national population will benefit from this upgraded network, compared to 51% today.
