Assignia Infraestructuras to construct 63 km of the first Moroccan high speed line



Assignia Infraestructuras has been awarded two contracts to build two consecutive sections of the first high speed rail line in Morocco. Both sections will cover a total distance of 63 kilometres.

(29/06/2012)  The contracts, awarded by the Office National Des Chemins de Fer du Maroc via international public tender, amount to €87.5 million and involve sections 4 and 5 of the line.

Section 4, which has a budget of more than €46.5 million and a 23-month deadline, involves constructing 33.5 km of line including special works in the Drader Canal area.

Section 5, whose works are due to be completed in 22 months, will be 30.15 km long. Its budget is over €41 million and will include the construction of a prestressed concrete viaduct over the Nador Canal.

Assignia will also be in charge of the topographical and geotechnical studies, as well as works and studies of earth movements, structures, drainage, pavements, equipment, plantations, etc.

Contracts abroad

In the field of railways, Assignia has been awarded important contracts abroad such as the construction of 173 km of high speed line between Ankara and Istanbul in Turkey, the maintenance of several conventional and high speed lines for the Turkish State Railways (TCDD), the maintenance of the Buenavista-Cuautitlán suburban rail line in Mexico and the renovation of Caracas Metro line 1.
