Metrotenerife’s monitoring system, awarded at the Global Light Rail Awards

Metrotenerife’s Heimdal system has received two awards at the Global Light Rail Awards: ‘Project of the Year of less than 50 million euros’ and ‘Improved System’. This solution allows monitoring infrastructure and subsystems on the light rail service.

(24/10/2023)

Heimdal is a monitoring and incident alert tool developed by the technicians of the areas of Computer Science and Systems Engineering and Maintenance of the operator, in order to monitor, in real time, the problems registered by the systems and equipment in the tram network.

This technology allows the equipment at the stops and cars to be monitored in the interval of three to five minutes. The improvements implemented make it possible to record in real time all the incidents and alarms that occur during daily service throughout the tram network. The system tests every equipment and, depending on the answer received, it activates, or not, the corresponding indication.

If necessary, an immediate alert is sent, via email or telegram, to the relevant technical staff, thus reducing response times, incident location times, and maintenance costs.
