Renfe has rolled out the first phase of the S106 trains’ commissioning with the incorporation of the first ten units manufactured by Talgo to commercial operations. This rolling stock has been launched in the connections with Galicia, Asturias, the Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona-Figueres corridor, and in lines in Valencia, Murcia and Alicante. Its commissioning will make it possible to increase the number of seats offered by close to 50,000 per week.

S106 trains have been launched in two layouts. AVE (high-speed) trains feature 12 carriages (one of them cafeteria), with seats in 2+2 configuration in Preferente or first class and 3+2 configuration in Turista or standard class. They boast touch screens in all seats and comfort spaces, in addition to a cafeteria service. They also have high comfort folding seats with footrests, on board information panels, vending machines, Wi-Fi connectivity, and areas for buggies and bulky luggage. These are 100% accessible trainsets that include space for wheelchairs as well as adapted toilets.

Avlo trains are also formed of 12 passenger cars and two power cars. They do not include a cafeteria service but have vending machines with drinks.
