The new design makes it possible to reduce the temperature of the friction components in dynamic braking. It optimizes the dissipation of heat energy between the friction components and offers a higher coefficient in the dynamic and static braking of the vehicle.
Likewise, this design reduces the transfer time between kinetic and heat energy and provides a better thermal equilibrium between the friction surfaces. It also improves the distribution of the braking and the hydrostatic equilibrium of the hydraulic fluid of the brake system, preventing the latter to raise its temperature while allowing higher static braking of the vehicle.
The new design has already been introduced to the innovation departments of two Spanish rolling stock manufacturers, and it can be a first step towards the research of a new generation of equipment, lighter and more powerful. Developed by Ignacio Gamero Danvila, the new friction surface must now undergo a standardization process previous to its implementation.
