(21/07/2022)

The collaboration between Sun Tren, HIS Turkey (Turkish subsidiary of Japanese group HIS) and Renfe is coordinated by the Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. The maintenance of this rolling stock will be carried out by the Turkish operator that is in talks to involve Talgo in the service as well.

Each of the trains, which belong to Talgo’s VII series, has 20 wagons and is expected to make 300 trips per year (285 thousand kilometres of road annually). The trains have variable gauge axles and can reach a maximum speed of 220 kilometres per hour. They offer high class cabins with beds, televisions, toilets and showers.

This leasing agreement paves the way for a long-term cooperation between Renfe and Sun Tren for the joint operation of rolling stock and Renfe’s operations in Turkey, a market in full expansion with numerous development plans, including the high speed market.
