VIIA strengthens its connections from Barcelona to Luxembourg

The operator has incorporated two frequencies in the rail motorway between Barcelona and Bettembourg (Luxembourg), going from three to five rotations in order to respond to the growing demand just a month after this service was resumed from the Can Tunis terminal.

These connections transport refrigerated goods, chemical products and general freight. The service, after being resumed in April following the interruption in March 2020 due to the impact of the pandemic, is now reinforced with two more frequencies. For these lines, traction is provided by Stadler’s Euro 6000 locomotives leased to Captrain.

The operator will also extend this connection from Barcelona to Oradea in Romania, stopping at its Bettembourg hub, starting from the fourth quarter of this year. This way, both markets will be connected via a service that will have capacity to transport 40 trailers or containers. In this case, Captrain will be responsible for traction in Spain, while in Romania the line will be coordinated by CFL multimodal.
