LFP Perthus opens night traffic on weekends

LFP Perthus extends its timetable and opens the possibility of night traffic during the nights of Saturday to Sunday and Sunday to Monday with no speed restriction up to the established maximum speeds of 300 km/h for passenger trains and 100 km/h for freight transport. There are no restrictions either in terms of type of train or traction mode (electric or diesel).

This option aims to support the development of rail transport, make it more competitive and meet the needs of LFP Perthus customers. LFP manages the ‘International Section’, a high-speed double-track line between Llers and Le Soler, in the vicinity of Figueres and Perpignan, respectively. The line is 44.4 kilometres long.

In a first stage, following the beginning of the 2023 annual service on November 12th, commercial trains will have the possibility to run on both tracks of the Figueres-Perpignan high-speed line during the nights of Saturday to Sunday and Sunday to Monday, without restriction of speed, type of train or traction mode.

The objective of LFP is to also open a third night during the week in the next few months. This opening does not affect the quality of the line maintenance, but it implies the adaptation of the organization and the established procedures for operations.
