During the Spanish presidency of the Council of the EU, the Ministry's priorities will be to make progress on the dossiers currently under negotiation, such as the Trans-European Transport Network Regulation. Along the same lines, other issues include the negotiation of the Single European Sky, a key reform for competitiveness, and the reduction of emissions in the European aviation sector.

Spain has included among its objectives to initiate and advance in the negotiations of the legislative packages to be presented by the European Commission throughout this year, such as the "Greening Transport Package", which gives continuity to the ‘Fit for 55’ initiatives and will be key to achieving the decarbonisation of transport, and the package relating to Maritime Safety.

Also of great interest will be the promotion of the Multimodal Digital Services Regulation, which is essential to make multimodal and seamless mobility for citizens a reality. In this regard, the importance of railways and the digitalisation of transport to achieve sustainable mobility will be discussed. In this line, the department also aims to promote the alignment of the policies of the main international transport organisations (ICAO, IMO, etc.) with those of the European Union.
