Renfe has transported 300,000 passengers on its two international routes, with four AVE services connecting 16 destinations that have meant the debut of the operator as a competitor in the French railway market.

The usage of its trains has been stabilised, with occupancy rates surpassing 75 per cent on both routes: the Barcelona to Lyon connection and the route that connects Madrid, Barcelona, and Marseille.

Current services

Renfe currently operates two routes between both countries. One route is the AVE service between Barcelona and Lyon, which links the stations of Barcelona Sants, Girona, Figueres Vilafant, Perpignan, Narbonne, Montpellier-St-Roch, Nîmes, Valence TGV, and Lyon Part Dieu. Departing from Barcelona at 8:19 a.m. and returning from Lyon at 2:30 p.m., the total travel time for the complete route is five hours. The other route is the AVE service between Madrid and Marseille, which connects the intermediate stations of Guadalajara Yebes, Zaragoza Delicias, Camp de Tarragona, Barcelona Sants, Girona, Figueres Vilafant, Perpignan, Narbonne, Montpellier-St-Roch, Nîmes, Avignon-TGV, Aix-en-Provence TGV and Marseille-St Charles.
