The Belfast transport hub, in Northern Ireland, has been opened. Once fully operational, this project, which is being developed by Sacyr in a joint venture with Farrans, will become Ireland’s largest integrated transport hub.

The new transport hub has the capacity to cater for up to 20 million journeys per year. At the moment, 16 bus stops are operational and this will increase to 26 and double the number of rail platforms from four to eight. In addition, more than 200 bicycle spaces have been provided, with large passenger service areas.

Rail services will commence once the railway safety authorization is obtained. As for the next planned works, improvements around the station will continue until 2025 and will focus on allocation of road space to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport areas.
