This program highlights the current situation where there is a need for more precise knowledge of the load limits of this type of bridge when supporting increasingly faster and heavier trains, which requires the adaptation of prevention technology to address these changes. The project has the support of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology and the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, UPV, Tres and Hamertec.
The technical developments focus on the formulation of a proposal of criteria to guide the selection of the optimum level of excitation, in addition to the preferred methodology for calibrating models, for the dynamic characterization of masonry bridges. Work is also being carried out to validate a new procedure for two representative structures, using different techniques for dynamic characterization, and to verify the formulated proposal through experimental testing, among many other aspects.
